TCP handshake objects server 2012
Hello EE,
Which Windows 2012 Server R2 objects handle the TCP connection handshake . Also , if I see a delay in the sql port response ( sql server 11.0.5343 /2012 ) using a tool such as tcping which system object is causing the delay and how is the sql application contributing to the delay . Need some additional understanding to help troubleshoot an issue.

Since the TCP/IP layer has been utilized to over 100GB connections your problem lies elsewhere.
There are no particular objects handling the connection, TCP/IP is running in a lower level API of the OS not having any knowledge of objects.
What do you mean exactly with "see a delay in the sql port response"? What kind of probe is used, and what do you compare it to?
You always need to monitor the complete chain of actions taken in such a communication. First to check is if the application on client or server causes delays.

In my case, I am using tcping. The sql server
"tcping measures the time it takes to perform a TCP 3-way handshake (SYN, SYN/ACK, ACK) between itself and a remote host. The travel time of the outgoing final ACK is not included, only the (minimal) amount of time it has taken to drop it on the wire at the near end. This allows the travel time of the (SYN, SYN/ACK) to approximate the travel time of the ICMP (request, response) equivalent."
When probing the sql port , I sometimes see large response times of 2 seconds and up . So I am wondering what OS or SQL events might contribute to causing delays , or if the slow response is strictly network related . The SQL server ( 11.0.5343 /2012 ) runs as a guest vm on a vmware host ver 5.5 . I want to understand what does and does not affect the response times so it can be troubleshooted quickly.

I would first monitor CPU load. VMs tend to get unresponsive with high CPU load.

That is the CPU load on the vm host or the guest ?...In instances where the cpu load is low and the port response time is still high ( seconds as opposed to ms) is there any other contributing factors ?
