DHCP 2008 R2

Hi all,

We have our DHCP server on a DC and DNS. The DC is a PDC as well. The DC is the primary DC for our Exchange 2010 as well.

Recently, once in a month atleast, our DHCP crashes in the middle of the day and we end up rebooting our DC. No unusual events in the event viewer. Any ideas what could be the issue here ?

It is a minor difference but does it crash or does it simply stop. Can you just restart the service as opposed to having to reboot?

It could be that there is another DHCP on the line somewhere that is stopping the one on the server.

ASKER

It stops giving out IPs and according to some users, it kicks them out of their sessions. Restarting the services gives an error and we always end up rebooting the DC.

There is only one DHCP on this site.

Update might be an issue here. Its been a long time since we have updated this server.

And I didnt check the event logs at the time of failed restart of dhcp service. There were about 200 people who were unable to login, so I had to reboot the server immediately. I will check it if it happens next time.
