Citrix Xenapp 7.8 hangs up

We just started using Xenapp 7.8 about a week ago.  I am slowly changing users from Xenapp 6.5 to 7.8.  Myself and one other user are experiencing a problem that it becomes unresponsive.  You can see the last screen you were on, but can't do anything.  The Xenapp Toolbar works.  So if you click on "Home", then log off, then log back on it returns you to the last screen you were on.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?  If so, what is the fix?

seems like a connectivity issue and that you are missing session reliability. One app? all? different servers? can you provide more details?

I do agree with Hernan above. It seems that it is something to do with the connectivity. Check out the connectivity settings of the app.

I don't know if it is one app.  We might be using outlook or Microsoft Access, etc.
I use Xenapp from Home and yesterday I used it from our Long Beach location, with the same results.
We currently have 2 users in Long Beach and one of them has never had this issue.  Myself and the user that had the problem yesterday both connect to Xenapp via the same internet connection.
have tou tried deleting the profile for the users with the issue?
no.  I just checked the "users" folder on the server and neither of them are there.  Only my folder.
do you use profile redirection? and secondly, are the other users accessing the same server? their folder should be there if they did... do you have the apps load balanced on multiple servers?
We use Tricerat Simplify Profiles.  Thanks for making me think.  I forgot the profiles are on another server.  I delete one from there this weekend when the user isn't working.

We only have one Xenapp server.  So it is not load balancing.
Probably a corrupted profile, let me know how it goes.
will do
what version are you using?  I will check if any known bugs for it could be affecting, there was one where the channel became unrecoverable after a network disconnect (so directly impacting session reliability), but it is for 2012. So when you get some time please share the OS and Tricerat version.

Cheers
Good Luck
Windows Server 2012 R2.  Simplify version 5.8.03.1998.   We started using the version 2 weeks ago.  We have had a few problems with it.
I can tell, their version history is scary.. https://www.tricerat.com/techdocs/suite/Simplify%20Suite%20Version%20History%205.8.03.pdf

unfortunately they do not have known issues that could relate to yours, but It all points that way. You should be ok by deleting the profile if there is no major issue with the version, in which case you would need some support from them directly.
But moving forward, I would say that you should evaluate moving to UPM, you have less bugs, and a bigger support community. In regards to functionality you can do anything with it, been using it for years and works great.
Thanks.  Unfortunately we just renewed our annual contract.  Overall I've been happy with the product and I'm familiar with it so not likely to change.  However, a while back I did review UPM and liked it.  What do you pay annually?   Is it per server?
UPM is free, that is why I mentioned it...
Then that wasn't what I looked at.  What is their URL?
https://www.citrix.com/go/jmp/upm.html

I just recalled that it is Free if you are paying Xenapp enterprise, I always saw it as free because i have been using it on companies that use enterprise or Platinum..
I just realized you're referring to User profile Manager.  I'll investigate.
I have two profiles.  jsitman and Administrator.  I switched to Administrator and it also hung up.
Before I delete the admin profile I wanted your opinion.  What are the odds of them both being bad?
possible. sometimes corruption is caused because of the status of the server hosting them, affecting multiple people. But at this point the odds are more against the profile management tool than the profile consistency itself. Are you prepared to test without using simplify?
I'll have to turn it off when users aren't connected.  I'll post when I have tested it.
I didn't get time to test with profile manager turned off.  However, I did turn off Simplify stability and Simplify lockdown.  Those didn't help.

The last time it locked up, I clicked several of my shortcut icons to see if any would respond.  They didn't.  When Iogged off and back on, all the icons I clicked were open.  So it isn't actually locked up.

Your thoughts?
Did you see my post 41621992?
Just to rule out network, can you run a ping -t to the server you connect to and see if it drops packets when it freezes? and do not close it, leave it for a few seconds. If you have some loss, then  pings stabilizes and your connection does not come back, then we can look at your receiver (maybe remove and fresh install?), if not then we need to look into other things and setup some logging to find the issue
I'll try it next time it hangs.
Ran the ping for over 5 minutes with no drops
