Audio interference

I have some voice recordings from my smartphone after using an app, but although the recordings are clear when I hear the person I'm talking to, the recording of my voice has lots of interference which I think comes from having the speaker on at the same time. Can the interference be removed or reduced from the recordings through some software on my PC ?

Thanks

I would start off with a program called Audacity. It is a free download and is a great tool for editing sound files and has a wide variety of editing tools built in.

It all depends on what type of "interference" you ended up with on the recording.  If it is all uniform hiss within a fairly consistent frequency, and IF none of the other audio content falls within that same frequency, then you can usually isolate a narrow band of frequencies in an audio editing application like Audacity and suppress the level so that it is much less noticeable without removing too much of the audio content that you wish to keep.

If the interference is over a constantly shifting frequency range, then it becomes rather more difficult and labour-intensive and results will be less satisfactory.

Can you describe the interference?

ASKER

I tried Audacity but it doesn't do the job, also tried with Adobe Audition and still no better.

When I playback the recording there is a terrible crackling noise over my voice. Very difficult to understand what I am saying. However, when the other person is speaking to me on the recording it is clear. It only occurs at the moments I have spoke.
