Windows explorer not showing drives under MY PC - windows 8
Hi all,
Have a funny problem with 2 laptops running Windows 8.1 - when you open windows explorer and you click on My PC, you would normally get a list of all drives and mapped network drives. For the last 2 weeks 2 of my users complain that when they open windows explorer they cannot see anything - all that happens is the green band at the top runs from left to right like it is searching, however never brings anything up. None of the other users have this problem and the 2 machines are also not at the same premises so it is not like they could have picked up something while together on the same network. I attach a picture. Any ideas?
Regards
Bernard

So it seems that it is linked to the mapped drives for some reason. Will be doing some more investigation in the next day and revert.
Burny, please comment on what you found out.

In the end the only way I was able to solve the problem was to do a reload of the machine. Since then everything seems to be running fine. Incidentally, I upgraded to windows 10.2 so not sure if that is what solved the issue.
Let us help you, next time. If you keep the progress to yourself, we can't :-)

I appreciate it, however I had limited time and a Director biting at the heels. In the end it is sometime easier to just reload.
Net use * /d
Also disconnect all usb/external storage devices if any.
