Checkpoint R75.40 error when logging into Smart Dashboard - Error Loading Objects!

From any computer with the Checkpoint SmartConsole loaded on it I get the error "Error Loading Objects!"

It authenticates and gets most of the way loading (based on the blue progress bar) but it errors out every time.

The mgmt console is a windows server. The FW is GAIA.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi there,

Has the issue just cropped up or did it always exist?
Can you try to uninstall smartconsole and reinstall it with the file from your checkpoint fw?

@Ian - It just happened. Its like SmartConsole somehow corrupted something on the management server. I tried closing it on the workstation I was on and got some weird error. Now I cant log in all the way to completion. It authenticates but it wont load all the way. Now here is something interesting. I think the corruption is in who's logged in because everytime I try from a different workstation it shuts down the login, then when y ou try again it says I have to disconnect the user (me - from the same workstation I just changed to). So is there a way to reset file/s on the management server for whos logged in?

@SIM50 - Its not SmartConsole. I have multiple workstations with SmartConsole installed on them they are not the issue. Further - I had an old image of the Server - I spun it up and logged into it using the same SmartConsole/s and they load up just fine. Just with a 2 month old policy... Not ideal but I can roll back to it if I must...

So 2 questions:

How do I do an export of the policy from a Windows Management Server? (Im thinking do an Export - then import the policy/objects into the old image that works)

or

How do I reset the User Logged in file? (Not even sure what file that would be...)

Well... Almost. I'm not exactly sure where $FWDIR is on a windows box. When I do a search for *.C I get about 10 files for "objects_5_0.C"

Theres only one directory which that file is lcoated in \conf\ and when I execute the command with that file it completes "successfully" but when I log into SmartDashboard - none of the "new" objects are present.

So where exactly is the "objects_5_0.C" file on a windows mgt box?
What happens when you enter $FWDIR/conf/ in windows explorer address bar?
Can you check Windows directory?
There's nothing in the PATH statement for FWDIR, but to answer your question it doesnt do anything other than act like it doesnt "know" what that means.

At a command prompt it says "The system cannot find the path specified"

Current Windows Checkpoint installations are installed to "Program Files" not to the Windows Directory. I think 4.1 (pre NG) was installed to the Windows directory.

So what about doing an upgrade? I cant find any documentation on doing a Windows to GAIA upgrade. I dont mind going to something else and get over to GAIA.
Hold the door... In Windows the variable isnt %FWDIR... Its %FWDIR%

Ok... and that IS located in the Windows Directory under FW1...

So now thats straight this might work. Be back in a few
Great Job! Any ideas on how to upgrade from R75 to R77 GAIA? Wouild love to get away from Windows!
