Google Cloud Platform (newbie)

I'm starting to learn Google Cloud Platform.
I created a MySQL instance and I'm trying to connect to it with MySQL Workbench. I used my normal Google login as User and Password, and Port 3306. IP address as given by Google Cloud Platform.

When I try to connect ...
I get an error 'Can't Connect'.

Am I missing something?
Thanks

Did you configure your my.cnf file to allow for a remote connection? Additionally, you'll want to check your firewall to be sure it is also allowing for communication on that port. If you use your search engine of choice, you can search for "my.cnf remote access" to get quality results that provide you the steps in doing this if you are unfamiliar.

ASKER

The MySQL is hosted by Google. So is that the same as adding my IP address to the 'Authorised Networks' in the Google Cloud Service?
If so, I have now added it. But still no connection :(

I added MySQL Workbench to the Firewall to allow.

Also checked that my Google login credentials are correct (by logging in to YouTube)

Any help please?
