Android App to ping a remote server

I want to continually ping my server at work and be notified by my Android phone if the ping fails - ie the server has crashed or the internet connection is down - any suggestions

We have a lot of companies that are using WhatsUp Gold to do what you are asking and they also have Android and iOS apps.  It is a continual ping, but does much more.

Check out the following thread for some free or less expensive alternatives to WhatsUp Gold.  I didn't realize that the price had gone up so much.

I also just found the following app in the Play store.  If you just need a continuous ping, this one does it.  The reviews say it has to be in the foreground to alert you, though.

That would kill your phone battery pretty fast  , would not recommend it

Il rather use an External Service like monitis or Cloudmonitor ,Or throw in some server nagios & Sms  & email when it's down , or Run a VM  to ping it & sms & email...
