wireless speed question
i have a friend that has his router downstairs, connected to a couple of BGC tv pass through int6400 which are Lan over AC adapters.
on the 2nd floor he has his 2nd lan over AC + wireless stick TL-WN821N plugged into usb
he has regulerly internet problems, so i tested it upstairs and downstairs, and got less than 10 Mbps download speed
i think this is way to low ( so it is possible the bottleneck is outside his home - it's being tested)
what max speed can i expect with this setup, knowing the router provides 385Mbs over lan? (not wireless)
when i tested on another location wireless, i got 30Mbs - is this normal?
and how to speed it up
system is running windows 7 64bit

You may wish to consider a new wireless stick. Otherwise, you may be getting the best speed you can. Wired speed seems decent.

ok i'll rephrase my question : please use the speedtest here https://www.ziggo.nl/speedtest/
and report the results for your wireless internet speed
and report the results for your wireless internet speed
Using Wi-Fi for internet, 17 Mbits/sec down 600 Kbits/sec up (which is what I pay for).
Using Wi-Fi for internal transfer, I get up to 90 Mbits/sec.
Using Wired for the same transfer, I get about 800 Mbits/sec.

17 Mbit only ? maybe i'm wrong, but that is very little compared to wired lan
anyway, tx for posting the result John

The 17 Mbit/sec is my modem speed (Not internal LAN speed). It bursts at 30 Mbits/sec and averages a steady 17 Mbits/sec. I can get and pay for more but that is workable for me.
My LAN speeds are much higher.

can you guys post your wireless speed, using the site given above?
I used the site you used to post my results above.
21.78 Mbps down, 5.96 up from your site. This is on a 25/6 package from Comcast. The USA has some of the poorest data speeds in the world. In Singapore I had a solid 100 down 35 up.
It depends on distance from central...

Wayne, thanks for the info - the BGC tv pass through int6400 is the hardware offered by the ISP itself (so i suppose it is fine - also confirmed by the test downstairs - which gave the same poor result)
