Integrate SSRS Native Mode reports into Sharepoint search results?

We're currently using SSRS 2008 R2 in SharePoint-integrated mode and want to move to SSRS 2016. One of the things I really like about being Sharepoint-integrated is that our reports (and their properties) show up in SharePoint search results on our intranet site (the SSRS site is on the same farm). If we move to native node, is it possible to integrate crawling of the new location with our current intranet search results, or will we lose that feature if we move to native mode?

I'm not looking for a comparison of why I'd go one native or integrated - I'm still not sure which direction we'll go, but integration with SharePoint search will weigh into that decision. I'm hoping that SharePoint search can be set up to crawl the native mode site properly and still include all of our reports in the results (so that our users can continue to easily find what they're looking for), but I'm not sure if anybody has actually attempted this and can speak to the results.

(I'm not a SharePoint admin, which will be obvious in a moment if it's not already)

Would it be possible to set up the search to also crawl a SQL table that contained custom properties, and use this location as a proxy for the property data and content that we currently store in SharePoint? If we can integrate with search, my biggest concern is losing the custom properties we have on our existing reports (tags, business owner, data source nickname, description, link to documentation, etc.).

If we won't be able to search the content of the RDL files, we'll downgrade the quality of search for our reports pretty significantly by moving to native mode. Hoping that's not necessary and there's a work-around, but I can't find the question clearly answered online.
What version of Sharepoint?
It's SharePoint 2010, but if we move ahead with integrated move, we'll be doing it on a brand new 2013 SharePoint farm and not on the current one, so that already presents some challenges for the continuity of search.
