HP Printer 0x0000007a error after Windows 10

Dear Experts,

My client's laptop updated to Windows 10 over night, and he tried to go back to Windows 7 because he did not like Windows 10.
He was able to go through the recovery, but ever since then, he cannot print to his HP printer.
It gives "0x0000007a, operation can not be completed" error.
I unintalled the printer, redownloaded the full installation software from HP website, and went though the installation, but the same error occurs when you try to print.  I tried to connect with USB and wireless, both the same results.
The odd thing is, I can scan from the printer to the computer.  Just cannot print.
I tried System Recovery, however, going to Win 10 and back seems to have destroyed all of his restore points, none of them work.
(I tried every single one of 8 points.)
I would hate to do a clean install, please advise.

Windows 10 working fine seems to be a debated question at this point. If uninstalling it as John presented doesn't do the trick post back and we can go through the paces of cleaning the spooler.

i have found in such a case the only option is a backup + fresh install
in my cases - internet did not load, see :  https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/28941608/No-internet-after-Windows10-update-and-restore-to-win7.html

it looks like the windos10 upgrade + roll back removes all restore points (also in my case) and causes havoc with numerous devices and drivers

Dear John, Thank you for your prompt response.  when I removed the printer, I did not uninstall all other HP programs, so I will try that.
Dear LockDown32, Thank you for your prompt response.  Yes, I will definitely post back my results after doing what John suggested.  Unfortunately, I will not be on site for a few days, so as soon as I go back, I will do that.
Dear nobus, Thank you for your prompt response.  I read your thread.  What a pain you went through!
I have many clients, that somehow ended up with Windows 10 and needed a fresh install to get anything done.  I would like to avoid that if I could, because this particular client has some software that he is not sure where their product keys are.
>>   I would like to avoid that if I could  <<  sure, everyone would like that - but the MS reality shows otherwise

Hello, just to update you, I could not get to the client site until tomorrow, am planning to apply the reinstall method first  to see if it works.  Thank you.
and plse confirm that the driver is windows 10 compatible
and has the proper driver installed

Dear John, I went back and removed all HP programs, then rebooted, and redownloaded  the installation software from HP site, reinstalled.  same exact error message still.
Are you still back at Windows 7 at this point?  If so, the rollback may not have worked and you may need to reinstall Windows 7 (agree with Nobus above that the rollback can cause issues)

Dear LockDown32, thank you for a quick reply, I will try this method.
Dear John, if what LockDown32 suggested does not work, I will reinstall Windows 7.
I will post back with the results.  Thank you.
what about my suggestions?

Dear nobus,  Sorry, I didn't mean to leave your comment out, I will perform clean install as you suggested if cleaning out the spooler directory does not work.  I thought it is worth a shot before starting to back up everything.
that seems o good plan of action
post results!

Dear LockDown32, cleaning out the spooler directory worked and now it is printing!!  thank you!
Dear John, removing all HP software first before reinstalling the printer was a good way to make sure that there was nothing else wrong, thank you.
Dear nobus, I am sure that your solution would have worked, but I was hoping not to have to do it.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
You are very welcome and I was happy to help.
