Index.DAT file equivalents

HI, we all know that Microsoft uses the Index.DAT file as a database for Internet caching (specifically for IE), but I was wondering what are the equivalent to the Index.DAT file in the other major browsers, such as the ones listed below.

- Mozilla Firefox
- Google Chrome
- Apple's Safari

Can someone please provide the file name with it's extension and the full path where each can be found?

Thanks,
Fulano

HI Andres, I had seen a couple of those, but none actually compare the Index.DAT file to say the places.sqlite file. So, based on your opinion, is the places.sqlite the equivalent of the Index.DAT file? Or is it some sort of "History" database not similar to the Index.DAT?

Not all browsers organize the history in the way IE does, So there is no matching file. For Firefox Its splittes into databases and other structure for other browsers, e.g. the cache2 folder too along with places.sqlite.

But for all browsers there are tools out there that can read those browser profiles for forensic analysis.
Hi Andres, I think you've hit exactly on what I'm seeking. I wanted to know if any of the other browsers use an "Index.DAT" type of file that is structured in a similar manner.

Thanks for your help.
