Surface Pro 4 - The TPM is not ready for use
Hi
We are having an issue with a Surface Pro 4 build.
We are encountering an issue when trying to Prepare the TPM. We have checked that is has been switched on within the BIOS, but it will display the message under the TPM Status 'The TPM is not ready for use'.
The error that appears when clicking on 'Prepare TPM' is:
Turn on the TPM security hardware
Error Code: 0x8028018b
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Rich

What, specifically, are you trying to do? By default, the TPM is on *and* activated (those are two different steps) on out-of-box Surface Pro 4s and can just be used. But if your OS deployment process did/involves non-standard steps or if you did something unusual while...experimenting...we 'd need to know that to help.

Apologies. We are trying to enable BitLocker on the OS Drive. We have had no issues setting this up on our Windows 10 Laptops. This issue seems specific to Surface Pro 4.
The OEM install on the SP4 ships with bitlocker already enabled. So again, you are doing something unique in your process. If you are reimaging, it *needs* to be legit VL media, pro or higher, sysprepped (a step dad too often skipped) and if partitioning is part of your deployment process, you must meet the proper requirements for bitlocker. And if, during the process of troubleshooting, you managed to delete the TPM keys, you'll need to re-activate and then re install the OS if you installed pre-provisioned...as the keys are now gone.
