I only have "client-only" Outlook rules : can it be "server+client"
So far, all my Outlook rules (mainly to move messages from specific sources)
to archive/pst files are "client-only" ie Outlook needs to be running on my
laptop for the rules to run
Q1:
Possible to create Outlook Rules tt are "server+client" ie even if Outlook is
not running, it will move to specific folders that are on file shares?
Reason is I may power off my laptop over the weekends but during this
time, a lot of emails will come in & exceed my small email quota.
I guess pst files can be created in file shares, right? So I don't need to
have my laptop & Outlook running to archive to pst file, right?
Right now, I don't have a file share yet but I plan to set up Pogo Plug (a
file sharing wifi device which I could plug in USB HDD):

Q2:
How can we set the frequency the rules run on the server & client? Say every 2 mins
during weekdays & every midnights on weekends
I'm on Outlook 2010 Ver 14.0.7145.5000 32bit running on Windows 7 Profsnl 32bit

As Cliff said you can't move messages to a PST using server side rule. As for a schedule - this is unnecessary. By default every incoming email will have the rules applied as soon as it reaches the server (for server side rules) or the client (for client only rules).
ASKER
If rules are applied immediately upon reaching the client (Outlook in my case), why is there a button "Run the Rules now" on the current folder n I've often seen emails being moved out to my pst archive after clicking the button
When you create a rule you may want to run it on existing email. Any new mail will automatically be processed by the rule.
ASKER
It is not when I m creating a new rule but existing rules that when "Run Now" start to move emails out to pst
ASKER
So basically is there any way to schedule the rules to run, say every minute on
selected folders (Inbox, Junk Mail, ... folders) ?
