In need of a sample of a small Test Plan for a vb.net application.

I am in need of guidance for creating for my group a Test Plan for a vb.net application.

I have be given this task to be completed by weeks end.

I require a sample of a small Test Plan for a vb.net application in a QA environment.

My Development Group consist of 4 people: myself, I  am a level one programmer,
Team Lead is level three programmer,
                                                                                a level two programmer and
                                                                                a level two Supervisor.

Only I know about the HP ALM Quality Center(QC) and it's full function of creating Test Cases and it's defect tracking.
I have been told the QC is too difficult for the other team members to learn given the short deliver date.

We are using the Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2010 for application lifecycle, and Visual Studio 2010 for
version control.

There is an urgency for my request.  My last performance evaluation, I was rated "not meeting expectations" due to
my missing a due date on one of my assignments.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Unit Testing, learning how to code it and implement it take a long time to master. You can't learn it overnight. Each project (program) requires its own set of tests to automate. Unit Test code is usually more lines of typing than the actual function to be tested. You also have to create test data that the unit tests use.

I too have seen about the Unit Testing.   Please see the attached links of the topics that I have found.

I realize that all the parts of a Good Test Plan will take "a long time to master".   However, if I do not
submit a test plan by week's end, I will be reprimanded for failure to meet a date.
Thanks for your help.

look at all of the programs inputs and expected outputs. It is easier to code unit tests while you are coding rather than post facto.

Define what a 'test plan' means in your organization? Does it include all unit tests or just an overview of what needs to be tested?

Thanks again David.

I just wrote down the follow'

INPUTS ->   PROCESS ->  OUTPUTS

Meeting with the Supervisor for 1  hr.  I'll ensure I have a good understanding of what His expectations
are for the group for creating a good Test Plan.

My son-in law is from Kingston.  He is a hockey coach for a local High School.  His team went to the
final four in the Ohio State hockey tournament.

Meet with supervisor yesterday.  In my presentation I included those things you suggested to me.
Turns out all he wanted was a very high level of summary of eack functions of the application.
All that is needed by the COB today, are test cases for each function of the application.
Having written test cases for the past seven years for the HP Quality Center, it should not be a
problem.

Thanks for all your help. Most important, was the feeling of not being alone.
Glad for you. At least now you know what they meant by the term 'Test Plan'.. Somedays here it seems that I spend more time asking questions to clarify what the asker wants even if I don't know the answer but the question is so open to possibilities trying to narrow down the intent of the asker is difficult.

I liked Kingston.  The problem was that it was a Military, Civilian, and a University city. A lot of stereotyping. Lived on top of a hill so no need of an A/C just open the windows and enjoy the breeze.
