Active Directory question
AD newbie
Example:
I have 100 sites, and am working on one of them, site A. Let's say site A has a /24 IP block, and I wanted to add another /24 block for expansion. So, I've done what I need to do with the networking (switches, routers etc.). My question is why would I need to introduce this new /24 in AD and do discovery? Is it to pull resources, DHCP, will the workstation not work somehow under the new /24 since AD doesn't know about it?

So long as your two LANs can communicate, you should be fine. If you want the server to do DHCP in that scope you do need to add addresses to the pool.

I'm guessing after authorization, AD is setup with certain permissions (right?) to access certain resources based on their AD profile (not sure if AD profile is the right word)?

AD is your identity on the domain and used for all sorts of things like logging onto the computer, accessing file shares, etc...
