Clean Install of Windows 8.1 on a new HDD How to ensure the Windows License Key is picked up

Hi,
I have a client running 8.1 on her laptop. Her HDD has crashed and I plan on doing a clean install of 8.1 on a new HDD.
I have tried this operation before and the installation didn't pick up the License Key. I suspect it probably had something
to do with the installation software ISO I was using (or not).
What is the correct way (ISO?) to do a clean install in order to ensure that the key licence is picked up.
Thanks

I guess if you would like to start that computer fresh, the best way to would is to start from the DVD/USB Install media, then format the partition

follow the GUI and input the key when asked, when the installation process finish then go to Dos prompt and type

sluice.exe 3

Do you use correct installation media - original media that came with the laptop?
There are multiple types of media (VL, DSP, OEM from laptop manufactorer,...). You need to use the correct one.
If the key is on the uefi, it will be used when the setup for the correct version is started. Pro will not pick up a home key  of course and vice versa.

Home and Pro should be on the same iso, at least they have been the last time I downloaded the iso which was sometime this month. You choose at bootup whether you want to install the home or the professional version.

It is the 32 and 64 bit versions that are on different iso's. But I'd just go for the 64 bit version, as the key for either will be the same, and installing an x86 bit version makes no sense, you just limit your options then.
If you use the Media Creation Tool you can get 32 and 64 bit on the same media but is has to be either Home or Pro.

@rindi I had a link to the ISO you are referencing that had both Home and Pro on the same media you just had to select 32 or 64 bit. The link I had no longer shows that option. Do you have a Link? I would much prefer to download the media based on 32 or 64 and have both Home and Pro on it. I actually have those DVDs but the link no longer offers them.
I usually download it on a Linux PC so there the media creation tool doesn't apply. You get to choose between Windows 10, 10KN, 10N or 10 single language directly on the web-site. Then you choose the language. After that you choose between 32 or 64 bit, and after that you can start downloading the iso.

I am giving LockDown 50 more point because of his links and the Neosmart toll which works. Rindi first came up with W10 idea which is great. The PC came with W 8.1 installed.
Thanks to all.
