Vmware installation on Dell R730

I need to install VMware on Dell R730. Should I download from VMware from Dell or VMware. Is there any difference ? Where can I download the VMware from Dell website ?

Thx

Should I install VMware through LifeCycle Controller, or simply insert the DVD to install VMware ?

Thx

The Dell version includes agents and management tools so you can check the status of the hardware within VCenter. For example you can then see whether the disk array and it's disks are still OK. The Standard VMware version doesn't have those extras.
you can configure raid manually, and then insert DVD like normal installation.

you can configure raid while booting by pressing Ctrl+R

Hi,

Do you mean I should download the iso (ie VMware-VMvisor-Installer-6.0.0.update02-3620759.x86_64-Dell_Customized-A02.iso) and install it through Life Cycle controller ? When it asks for key, I can input the one provided by VMware, correct ?

Thx
Yes, correct.

but i am not sure esxi 6 is supported by it or not.

i believe it is not, in that case just boot directly from DVD of esxi

"i am not sure esxi 6 is supported by it or not. ". Do you mean I may not able to start ESXi 6 through LifeCycle controller ?

Do this Dell server has a small SSD that I can install the VM ? Do I need to allocate a disk to install the VMware ?

Thx
You can install ESXi onto a SD card or internal USB flash drive.

no internal disk is then required for the OS.
