esxi shutdown when UPS loses utility power...
So Dell has a "ProDeploy" service that's supposed to help you get your server all set up after they rack it up for you... I've already got ESXI set up for the most part.... So I told them when I could really use help with was getting it set up so that the thing would talk to my Dell UPS's and shut down in a power outage. Not only does the guy am working with not know how to do this is apparently asked around and can't seem to find anybody who knows anything about having a UPS automatically shut down the esxi.
I figure I can install the operating system clients to have all my guest operating systems shut down automatically when the UPS loses power. But I'm not at all sure how to get ESXI to shutdown as well....

You will have to refer to Dell documentation, as to what needs to be installed.
You usually integrate with vCenter Server, and import an appliance.

Dell UPS, Rack, 1920W, 2U, 120V,with 5-20P to C19, 3m input cord (330-7506)
We didn't actually buy a new UPS with this new server because we already had two of these that were only at 11% load so we just plugged the new server into those two UPSes.
So basically I just want to get it set up so that if the power goes out everything will shut down.
I was thinking I would need to install the normal software on all the guest operating systems to shut themselves down. But if I can just set up at the esxi level and esxi is able to signal all the guest operating systems to shut down (I assume through VMware tools?) Than all the merrier!!
