Drive Labeling

Hi Experts,

Is drive labeling a best practice. I had heard it slightly improves performance. So if you have multiple drives it would be better to name them. Can you confirm?

esxi 5.5
vcenter5.1

thx.

I see. So I have spinners with local storage. so each vm uses the local storage of that host.

ok so I will label them in windows.

Correct, the virtual disks, are only as fast as the datastore they are stored on.
do you prefer any specific schema for labeling the drives, ie. os, shares, data, etc?
we use terms, like System, or OS, Data, Apps, Shares, Web, SQL Data
great thx.
