Correct EVC Mode for following Processors

Hello,

I'm having difficulty locating the correct EVC mode for the following processors. Currently the Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2643 has all the VMS and we' have created a new cluster ( 2 Host) in which we need to migrate  ( allocate) VMS

Currently  this processor has all VMS- (not in cluster, live in production)
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2643 0 @ 3.30GHz

In Cluster ( new, needs VMS migrated to, not in production, no VMS)
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5650
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2670

Any help is appreciated

One thing remember, is when you apply an EVC baseline to a host, if VMs are powered up on that host using the CPU (which they will be, you will have to power them off).

So what processors do you have in your hosts ?

Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5650
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2643
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2670

are all those the hosts that need to be in the cluster ?

When setting a baseline, you use the lowest CPU Generation - which is Westmere .

Hello,

Currently the two below are in a cluster
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2643
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2670

I have an outage window scheduled tonight for the one below, power down all VMS and move this host which is in production with all the VMS on it. It's a littel confusing what the baseline would be.

Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5650
what CPUs are going to be in the cluster, and you only need a EVC baseline for vMotion, e.g. Live MIgration ?

is this being discontinued  and retired - Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5650

so only these will be needed in the future ?

Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2643
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2670

is the 2670, a v1 v2 or v3 ? it makes a difference ?

because the

2670 v1 is Sandy Bridge
2670 v2 is Ivy Bridge
2670 v3 is Haswell

So, based on this common generation to both 2670 and 2643 is the EVC Sandy Bridge Baseline.
Hello,

All three of the host ( Procs) will be in the cluster. I believe I will have to power down all VMS on the older processor, then add the host to the cluster then power back on.  I've tried to migrate (live) from the older Sandy Brdige to the newer Host but received an error. I'm assuming since that host is not int he cluster, the cluster isnt downgraded in a way to support. Unfortunately I will have to continue to use the older proc as the 3rd host in the cluster.

thank you for your help, once  the VMS were powered off and the host imported into the cluster" sandy bridge "was selected w/o errors.
