Yes, I have a virtual switch created as you have shown. But for some reason the VM is geting both the static IP I have assigned and an APIPA IP address from somewhere.

btw, you can try to disable APIPA on your VM via the registry:<br />

Does your VM has more then one interface?

btw, you can try to disable APIPA on your VM via the registry:

Set IPAutoconfigurationEnabled [https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc938259.aspx] in KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters to 0.

I have a new Hyper-V host with a single NIC. I have created a VM and assigned a static IP address. When I run an ipconfig command I see that I have an APIPA address, ipconfig /all shows both the APIPA and the static IP. <br />

I can't get an internet connection as it seems the APIPA address is being given preference. In the NIC setting there is no configuration that would allow the APIPA to be issued. <br />

If anyone has seen this before please let me know.<br />

Hyper-V VM, with a static IP and a private IP conflict

Hyper-V is a native hypervisor; it can create virtual machines on x86-64 systems and supersedes Windows Virtual PC as the hardware virtualization component of the client editions of Windows NT. A server computer running Hyper-V can be configured to expose individual virtual machines to one or more networks. Hyper-V Server supports remote access via Remote Desktop Connection. Administration and configuration of the host OS and the guest virtual machines is generally done over the network.
