asked on

aggregate over committed

We have netapp fas3210 hosting volumes for Exchange.
Started to an OCUM alert saying that aggregate overcommitted.
df - h ,volume status are showing that there is plenty of space on the aggregate and volumes.
What is the reason I get that alert?

If you thin provision your volumes, you can overcommit the aggregate. As long as not ecery volume fills up completely, there's not a problem.

This is a warning that you should monitor volume growth closely so that you don't end up with a full aggregate.  Overcommiting  allows you to allocate storage more efficiently but you should not overdo it.

What is the reason i get the warning? I can see there are plenty of free space, but get warning. If it is think provision then overcommitted, but will not show any free space .
