Export Contacts from Outlook for MAC to PC Excel

Hi all,

We've got MAC's with Outlook 2011 and 2016 and we want to export the contacts from these to an Excel sheet and we can export the contacts to and .olm file but we can't seem to find a way to import it into an Excel form to be accessible either by MAC's or PC's without having to pay for some conversion software.
Does anyone know of a free bit of software or a way of doing this as it's only a one off job ?
Thanks

Does the Mac have the option to export as a CSV or TXT file?

Excel can then open those.
There's a procedure here that should work.

Note, exporting to CSV or TXT file will not carry over any "Notes" entries that your users had, or photos (outlook does support photo 'mug-shots').

Not a big issue for 99% of users, but the other 1% may burst into tears...

Thanks both,

Outlook ONLY gives us the option to save the contacts as an OLM file and nothing else. We can't even manually change the extension which is the main problem.

Thanks
Do you have Export in the File menu of Outlook 2011? It should have a tab-delimited Contacts export option.

Hello,
You need to follow the two steps:
Step 1: Export the contacts from Outlook 2011 for Mac
  • In Outlook 2011 for Mac, on the File menu, click Export.
  • In the Export Assistant, click Contacts to a list (tab-delimited text), and then click the right arrow button.Select Done.

Step 2: Open the contacts by using Excel 2011 for Mac

  • In Excel 2011 for Mac, on the File menu, click Open, and then select the .txt file that you created in step 1.
  • In the Text Import Wizard, follow these steps. Be aware that in these next three steps, the default settings are used.
                        1.  Select Delimited as the file type, and then click Next.
                        2.  Under Delimiter, click to select the Tab check box, and then click Next.
                        3.  Under Column data format, select General, and then click Finish.
You can also save the file as (.csv) format .Simply select save as " MS-DOS Comma Separated (.csv)"
Since you need to rely upon the contact information, you can save your time instead of using this time consuming way. I would like to suggest an efficient tool SysTools OLM Contacts Migrator which can migrate your contacts to Excel faster than the manual method.

Thank & Regards,

Apologies (my error) but it's Outlook 2016 not 2011 (presume this would make a difference)

Thanks
In that case, please give my solution of cutting and pasting using a text editor (see my previous post) a try and let us know how it went.
