Windows 10

WIndows 10 upgrade keeps reverting back to previous OS. It starts to install and get to 5% and then reverts back. Do you have any idea on what I can do?

Don't upgrade via the icon in taskbar or Windows Updates. Rather download the iso from the M$ website, then either burn it to a DVD or use WinSetupFromUSB to create a bootable USB stick from it.

http://www.winsetupfromusb.com/

After that you can just run the setup.exe file from the DVD, or extract the contents of the iso to a location on your PC and run setup from there. Most upgrades done that way have worked fine, while the ones via the icon rarely work.

You can also boot from the DVD/Stick and install the OS that way, but then it won't be an upgrade, but rather a clean installation, which means you'll have to reinstall software and restore data. But it will still automatically activate and register with the m$ servers provided you are uprading from Windows 8 and the key is embedded in the BIOS. If you are upgrading from Windows 7, you'll have to provide the Windows 7 key, and the same applies to windows 8 provided you installed Windows 8 manually and it's key isn't embedded in the BIOS.
Logic forbids that there's any difference but people have reported different outcomes when using different methods to update (because in fact it is exactly the same method in the end).
If you would like to gain some insight, look at the setup log files:
C:\$Windows.~WS\Sources\Panther\setuperr.logand setupact.log
@McKnife, I always like to learn new things. What does the log file contain?
The name setuperr=setup errors. And setupact=setup activity.
@McKnife Thank you for the info. :)

I used  the Windows 10 upgrade tool.
Any hints in those logfiles?
