Software update for MacBook Pro A1278

I have a MacBook Pro model A1278. If I go to apple and click about this Mac .
It says Mac OS X version 10.5.8
Processor 2.26ghz
Memory is 2gb
Startup Disk: Macintosh HD
I clicked apple and -software update -says checking for new software and finally it says your software is up to date.
Please suggest , is there any updated version available for this model. Is so how to update.
Any help would be great.

No. That only updates 10.6.x to 10.6.8. It will not update 10.5.x.

Macintosh Hd:
Capacity :148.73gb
Available:56.88gb
Where can I buy the OS 10.6.8 , will I be able to download .
Looking for cheaper options to by the OS
