quickvpn on windows 10 not working

have a cisco wrvs4400n v2 router.  latest firmware.

setup user in vpn client accounts, exported cert and placed on client machine in quickvpn folder.

punch in info in quickvpn on client pc, hit connect, runs through a couple steps then gives the error:

"the remote gateway is not responding. do you want to wait?"

log file on client shows:

evidently a very common error that has driven people nuts and now im fighting it.  added the icmp rule in firewall.  also tried the run as administrator trick for quickvpn.

block wan request and dos protection disabled.  remote management on 443 is enabled.

client pc can ping wan fine.  client pc ip is 192.168.1.185, cisco router ip is 10.10.10.1

lots of fussing that quickvpn is a problem software.  not sure if thats case or i have a missing setting somewhere.  TIA

Did you ask Cisco for a new version? Quick VPN was never very good (all my clients dumped it) and it most likely is not Windows 10 compliant.

I use NCP Secure Entry. Bomb proof, Windows 7, 8.1 and 10.

ASKER

the cisco bot (person reading from a flash card) was not very helpful.  would not give me the time of day.

i did try the quickvpn on a windows 7 pc (which is supports) and getting the exact same error.  but that doesnt mean im still missing a step.

i dont mind using anything else on the client as long as its not too intensive to set up.
Try a Trial Copy of NCP Secure Entry and set it up. The vendor provides support for the trial period.

www.ncp-e.com
i cant seem to find the quick setup guide for the NCP windows trial version.  have a link?

thanks for the heads up on the ncp software
You are most welcome. I think NCP is the best VPN client software around. I use it all the time.
