Sophos Email Encryption works for some people and not for others.

Hi All

We have been setting up users outlook profiles on several sites which all connect to the same network.  The Sophos Encryption plugin has been installed manually for 30-40 users.

For a number of users when they launch a new email the encryption button is already orange but does not send emails securely.  The get around this the user has to click the encrypt button twice to turn it off and back on again which resolves the issue or they put [encrypt] in the subject heading (which works every time)

However the plugin works perfect after install for the rest of the users.

All users are on Outlook 2007 and on the same network.

I have installed manually onto my computer on a different network using Outlook 2010 and it works perfectly.

All settings are identical for both sets of users as it only requires one check box to be selected in tools>options after the install.

Any ideas whatsoever would be appreciated.

I have a similar behavior using some excel  addin that we need for an automation process, I did what is described here: https://support.netdocuments.com/hc/en-us/articles/205219070-Changing-the-Load-Behavior-of-the-Office-Application-Integration-add-ins

It worked at least for 4 months then I had to do it again :S.
give it a try

Thank you for the feedback.

We have had different variations of issues across different sites.  Once main site seemed to have a firewall issue which was resolved as we had users logging into 1 network to them connect to another.

We also had various issues of which you both touched on above such as the add-in needing to be re-installed, outlook restarted, PC restarted and amending the registry default so thank you so much for your assistance and solutions to the different scenarios
Thanks let us know if there are any things to further discuss on ... and do share the resolutions
I was meant to close the question on my last point.  Other than there being a catalogue of issues here of which i think you covered all, there was I understand a firewall issue at another site which was dealt with out of my hands, thank you once again
