Install certificate for local server

We have set up an internal server, which will only be accessible from the internal network.  To connect to the server which is running Linux you have to connect from a browser over an https connection.  Even when I select install the certificate to the local browser - each subsequent connection I get the certificate error advising that The security certificate presented by this website was issued by a different website address.

I need to install this certificate so that I can connect over https without receiving the warning each time.  i cannot connect over http so need to resolve this.  What is the best solution?

Thanks

It sounds like you have a mismatched common name.  What is the name you provided for the certificate, and what name are you using for the server?

Hi Steve

Thanks for answering. I didn't create a certificate, wouldn't know how to on a Linux install?   It is a Symantec encryption server install on vm so that machine is pre-configured all you have to do is provide the ip, name and gateway and the rest is already setup and accessed via a web browser. You have to access over http  sand that is when I get the error
