EXCHANGE

upgrade to exchange 2010

we have 1 hub and client access server ( which is also DC) and 1 mailbox server sitting on xxx. lan domain
We have split domain system where we have our CAS and hub server which are having linked mailboxes  sitting on xxx.lan (routable domain)  And we have active directory which have disabled accounts on same cas and hub server.

We have another DC which is xxx.com which have all enabled accounts.

We are planning to upgrade to exchange 2010.

I want to know following:

1)      While upgrading to exchange 2010  since we have  2 doamins xxx.lan and xxx.com and xxx.lan
Has AD which have disabled accounts , I think it was created by earlier admin because we have linked mailboxes so how can we segregate them in new environment
So that we have only dedicated exchange 2010 and how the link between AD on xxx.lan and xxx.COM will work?
as all are linked users between xxx.lan and xxx.com , their mailbox is created is on xxx.lan but their AD credentials are created in disabled AD on xxx. lan which is in turn AD credntilas copied from xxx.com

plus we have 15 storage groups in exchange 2007 , how should we define mailbox database in exchange 2010 ?

Hi Chamara,

we have DC sitting on exchange 2007 which have disabled user accounts,

I want to separate dc from exchange 2010, how can we  do that.
install exchange 2010 on new server and move mailboxes to new server. once all mailboxes are moved, you can uninstall exchange 2007 from the DC.
you will have to plan this very carefully.

thanks but what about the DC which has disabled user accounts on exchange 2007 server.

how should I segregate them, should I build another dc with xxx. lan network
Yes, you can install new DC in same domain and move all master roles to new server. then decommission the old DC.
