Can OneDrive for Business Connect to Shares on Multiple Domains?

Hello Experts,

I have not previously used OneDrive for Business, but have a need that it may be able to meet, and am trying to find more information.  I support multiple companies, all under the same ownership.  The managing CEO has asked me to find an option for synchronizing selected files and folders from file servers in the different companies to a single, online based location where he can easily and seamlessly access them.  He uses a Mac based laptop and an iPhone and will need to access them from either device.  Other managers would also need to be able to access the synchronized files, and they would be using a mix of Windows based laptops and either iPhones or Android based smart phones.  There are three AD domains that contain the files that would need to be synchronized.  We've taken a look at DropBox, but have found that its security features are a bit lacking, as we would still need to restrict access to some files to only certain members of the management team.  The companies associated with two of the AD domains use Office 365, the third currently does not.

Will OneDrive for Business allow the synchronization from multiple domains, and if so, does it provide for caching of login credentials so that the files can be accessed easily without having to authenticate with each connection?  Additionally, are the permissions in OneDrive for Business granular enough so that permissions can be managed in individual files?

Thanks very much in advance,

Russ

Thanks very much for your help and your insight Vasil.  Yes, the three domains are all separate forests.  Although we might eventually have all three companies in the same O365 tenant, that will not be for some time.  Before posting this question, I did not realize that a ODFB trial was available.  I will give that a try and we will go from there.

Thanks again,

Russ
