Software available for computer crash notification...

I am wondering if anybody knows of any software solutions that would notify someone if a computer was not responding which could be a potential alarm that it has crashed? I've searched online and it seems like SNMP is built for this type of thing but I don't see anything out there that would send a text to notify someone the system is down. I see solutions for applications being down, but haven't run across something that would indicate a PC is offline.

What's Up Gold by IPSwitch is the industry standard.

D/L the free trial and see if it fits your needs.

Here's how to configure it so that it will send SMS messages directly.

Thanks ScottCha, I have heard of Whats Up, but I believe they have a minimum of 25 devices that must be added...I'm really just looking to monitor one or two PCs

PRTG has a freeware version with 100 "sensors", which is plenty for a couple of PCs.  It will poll your PCs to make sure they're up, and will send you an alert (email, SMS, push notification, ...) when the PC is down.

If you enable SNMP on your PCs, then PRTG can monitor much more than just up/down -- you can keep track of CPU usage, disk space, RAM, processes running, etc.
