Outlook 365 =- Online web application - output an email to Word

My OS is win 10 Pro, 64 bit.  I have an Office 365 account.  I use Microsoft Edge to go to the internet and then type portal.office.com to log into my account, which opens the Outlook 365.
After reading an email, I would like to save it to my HD as a Word file, hope the Experts can please walk me thru this, as I do not see any buttons for this. Thank u

There's no such functionality. You can either copy/paste the content of the mail to Word, or use the Print function in OWA (select a message, press the "..." button on top, Print), which allows you to save it as PDF/XPS file or send it to OneNote (depending on what you have installed on the machine).
Open the email in Outlook and then File, Save as, and then select type = MHT and save it where you want. Word can open that file

If you got it in OneNote, you can go to File -> Export -> Page -> select Word Document as the format.

In response to Jeffery, the reason why, is due to preference.  But the method u suggested;  mine is an online web application, and in the drop down list, there is no "Save as" feature.  This what I have in the ... :
Mark as unread; Mark as read;  Pin;  Unpin;  Flag;  Clear flag;  Mark complete;  Move to Clutter;  Ignore;  create rule; Print; Assign policy > Archive policy;  Retention policy.
I will post a new question, as to whether I should use Outlook 2016 the online web application; or the office 365 which I am reinstalling onto my pc {because my OS [win10 pro] had to be reset and it deleted the office softwares, and I have to reinstall everything again, and it is taking ages. Thank u.

thank u reinstalled Outlook 2016 and output and saved as a MHT file which was readable in Word. regards.
You are very welcome and I was happy to help.
Sorry I didn't have a chance to respond earlier... but the app I showed a screen shot is of the Windows 10 BUILT-IN Mail App.  It's already on your machine.

But I must say that you saving emails as documents is a bit silly, in my opinion.  Computers are designed to make us more efficient, and you are putting up a hard fight towards being efficient at all.
each one has their own way of doing things, no wonder the world is different.  My present Outlook has nearly 20,000 emails and as u can see trying to search for a particular email is going to be a challenge, especially those important business ones.  Thus the need for me to index, categorize them and file in their own cabinets.  My creating folders have already exceeded the limit of the software.  Anyway I am still in the trial and discover phase until I find my niche.  Thank u for your inputs.
I have well over 50,000 items in my mailbox, and searching is almost instantaneous.  But I don't use folders because search is so easy -- and fast - especially if you are using the Outlook Web App.

Yes, everyone has their own way of doing things... but there is valid research that shows people waste a tremendous amount of time looking through folders for their files.  This is why Microsoft has made it so easy to find what you are looking for.
Thank u for your response Jeffrey.  At one time when my outlook crashed and I called Microsoft tech support they pronounced that I had too many folders and emails and this was one cause of the problems.  Thus, my need to delete as many as possible of both folders and emails.  I wonder if there is another solution where I can file these, say into an Access database, I am sure someone out there must have done it. thank u
Too many folders definitely can be a problem.  Which is why I don't even use them.

But I don't see why you feel the need to "File" emails.   Exchange mailboxes are not a bunch of separate files -- all items are already in a database that is functional and searchable.

Perhaps you just need to take some time to learn about the features of Outlook 2016 and see that you can accomplish what you want.  For instance, Search Folders are a great way to organize important messages.  But you only should create ones that you use a lot -- because they are essentially just saved searches.

If your mailbox seems to be growing too large for the capabilities of your computer -- you can always break it up into smaller pieces by archiving older messages to a new data file (.pst).  Outlook search will include archives in your searches so it won't be a problem that messages may be in two or more data files.
Thank u Jeffrey for your inputs.  I will definitely research more on this subject.
No problem.  Good luck!
