Virtual PDF Printer issue with Windows 7 and higher

Hi,

I am using CutePDF writer but I noticed it doesn't matter what Virtual PDF Printer is used the issue persist. I have a RTF doc dedicate to and only print to CutePDF.  This is within an application where the RTF is assigned to print to CutePDF.  All other print jobs will print the a real printer set as the default.  This use to work and then all of a sudden it stopped working.  On XP machines, it still works with no problems.  I have a feeling maybe it has something to do with a Windows update?

The other possibility is that maybe it requires that the Virtual Printer set as the default printer?

Thank you for you time!,

Did you update Cute PDF to the latest version?  My recall of Cute PDF is that it creates a printer driver and it may need updating.

Hi John,

Thank you for responding.  I have the latest and greatest version of CutePDF 3.1.  The Application that I am using this on is an older application built during the XP ages.  It works like a charm on XP.  Makes me think its OS related or possibility some sort of Windows update because I got it working once before with Windows 10 and then it stopped working.

Can you try another PDF printer application ? Nuance has a PDF creator.
Also see if you have KB3159398 as this was an update that affected some printers.

Those look like Windows 7 updates. I have Windows 10 but I can check with a WIndows 7 machine and test then let you know.

I've tried other PDF applications as well and same results.
On windows 7 machine, after removing the updates... same results. :(

I was afraid of that... and thinking along those lines.

I appreciate the time. Have a good one!
