Hi

i have Exchange 2016 and a journal account that is being used for a Document Management system.  The mailbox has grown to 19GB as the Document Management systems is unable to delete the messages once it has processed them.

I need a way to setup a rule on Exchange that will process through the journal mailbox daily/weekly and permanently delete any email in the journal mailbox older that say 30 days.

Any help very much appreciated.

Thanks

just to summary

1. create a Default policy tag (DPT) that permanently delete with retention period of 30 days
2. create a retention policy called "Journal MRM policy" and add the above DPT to this policy.
3. apply the policy to the journal mailbox - refer to https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd298052(v=exchg.150).aspx

please note that how retention age is calculated on https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb430780(v=exchg.150).aspx
