Hello Everyone:

I have configured a new .msi installation as an application, but I will need to run a VBS package to perform the uninstall of a setup.exe before (supercedence).

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

2 options,

1. Use the 'run another program first' option in the package program before running the MSI.
2. Use a task sequence to run 2 steps, first the removal and then the msi install.

Hello - Thank you for the quick response!

Just curious if you have any documentation that you can reference on how I can do this with a Task Sequence?  I am familiar with using the Task Sequence for OSD, but not deploying applications.

Thank you again for your quick assistance!

Hi

It's relatively straight forward to use task sequencing outside of OSD. You need to choose the 'Custom Task Sequence' option when you run the wizard to create a new TS.

The basic steps are:

1. Create a new custom task sequence

2. Add your steps (in a similar way to how you do for package programs)  - "Install a single application" or "Run command line")

3. Advertise it to a collection.

Job done.
