ActiveSync synchronziation on handheld

Can we control the Exchange emails storage in handheld ? If we have a 50GB mailbox and setup on a hanheld, does it mean we need large memory for a handheld ?

Exchange Activesync have an option "Period to sync" to sync mail for last 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 2weeks, 1 month, and All.
You can configure as per your requirement.
