Infragistics Ultragrid

I'm using the Infragistics Ultragrid in a VB.NET desktop app.  I'm setting a column to only allow non-negative integer data.    I have multiple forms that use this grid and I'm using the same column settings on each  form.  One a single form there an issue - the last three lines of code below DO NOT take effect for the first row that is added to the grid until I tab out of that quantity field.  Once I tab out, all is fine for the quantity cell for ANY row.  But for that first row right after it's added, I can enter alpha character and there's no mask,  I don't know what I'm doing different on this one form.   It is, however, right aligned, as per second line of code.

Is there a method/property I can use to force the custom column settings to take effect immediately?

 Me.Grid.DisplayLayout.Bands(0).Columns("quantity").Header.Appearance.TextHAlign = Infragistics.Win.HAlign.Right
 Me.Grid.DisplayLayout.Bands(0).Columns("quantity").CellAppearance.TextHAlign = Infragistics.Win.HAlign.Right
Me.Grid.DisplayLayout.Bands(0).Columns("quantity").Style = Infragistics.Win.UltraWinGrid.ColumnStyle.IntegerNonNegative
Me.Grid.DisplayLayout.Bands(0).Columns("quantity").PromptChar = " "
Me.Grid.DisplayLayout.Bands(0).Columns("quantity").MaskInput = "nnnnnnnn"

Sorry, I have no answer but I just want to give an advice (same as I gave recently answering another question).

As far as I remember no or very few  Infragistics related questions were answered here. Most people just don't know about it at all. I used it years ago, now haven't it installed on my computer and unfortunately can't look at the problem more closely.
I'd suggest you discuss the problem on some of Infragistics forums (that's what I did when worked with Infragistics):
