the command to install the firmware is : ./CPXXXXXX.scexe.

but we would NOT usually update firmware using the individual components, we would download the latest Smart Start DVD which contains ALL the firmware for the server, e.g. ilo, BIOS, disks, network, and storage controller.

The G7 is quite an old server, and there may not be any updated firmware for it any more, which is a good reason to download the Smart Start Firmware DVD, because it will show the existing firmwares and versions.

As for whether it's the correct one, that very much depends on what storage controllers you have present in the server.

the command to install the VIB (driver) is esxcli.

Yes but we need outstanding maintenance or support with HP in order to download right?  We do not have support with HP any longer.

I cannot help you if you do not have a support agreement with HP.

If its a P410i controller, the firmware link supports that controller.
