I need help fixing a messed up network setup.  I'm fairly knowledgeable to get myself around in the computer but not super advanced.  Need to re-setup after QB people took me from peer to peer and sharing file to internet sharing.

From your description you want one computer to host the QuickBooks Company File and the rest to access it.

First, make sure the other computers can access the folder on the first computer that hosts the Company File. Read my article on Folder Sharing.

https://www.experts-exchange.com/articles/16639/Folder-sharing-on-modern-machines.html

Second, open QB on the Main Computer. File, Utilities, Host Multi User Access.

Third:  Go to another computer, map the folder, open QuickBooks and navigate to the folder where the company file is.

This basic approach works with all versions of QuickBooks going back a decade.
