Help with audio only file for Youtube

Last week I used Audacity to remove the audio from a previously downloaded Youtube video.
The audio which was a little over 2 minutes was cut using a cutter. The result was an audio file that played fine and was only a few seconds long.
I then used Windows Live Music Maker (Vista)  to record this audio onto a "blank, black" video of the same length. Then uploaded to Youtube.

I am not sure how I did it with WLMM. Any ideas?

I think you may have actually recorded the track from the video using Audacity and exported it.

To create a new video with WLMM, you must first create a 'black' slide with an image editor and save it as a jpg file.

Then you import the clip and the slide into WLMM. Set the duration of the displayed image to the same duration as the audio clip.

Import the clip into the same project as the black slide and export the video.

Today I have had issues using Audacity and Any Video Converter and WLMM. They all seem to reject certain file types.
The video from which I wanted to extract the audio is .flv. Audacity can only accept wav or aiff.
Finally I have the video in .wav. Whether WLMM will accept that file type not sure.

I'm stuck at (XXXX) on creating a black slide. I do not recall how I did it. Maybe go to Google images and search black and download a black image.

I've been into WLMM 4-5 times already and the screen does not look like it did last week.
There is a link to add an image and add music but when I click on add music the file is the wrong format.

Yes you are right on what I did but I do not remember how.
I have a 1000x1000 black jpg and the video as a .wav.
Audacity is NOT a video converter. It is an audio editor. If you play a clip, you can use Audacity to RECORD the audio and edit the result then save it as a wav (AUDIO) file.

I know but Audacity required a wav or aiff file before it would extract the audio.
The file was flv from YT.
I used the converter to switch the flv to a format audacity would take which was wav.

So look here and this looks familiar though I just grabbed some odd 1000x1000 black photo and maybe WLMM is adjusting the photo to be the same width as the length of the audio.

The photo is jpg and the audio is wav.   WLMM may not accept wav. not sure. This file format crap stinks. The whole world needs to get together and find some standard file format.

So look here and what do you think I do next?

Ok. I'll try that next time.

The way I got it done is ready for WLMM.

What should I do next in this image.

you have to make sure that the duration of the image diaplay is the same as the length of the audio clip - it seems to be 7 seconds.

Click on the File tab (just left of the Home tab) and select Save movie. scroll down to the YouTube option and click on YouTube.

Navigate to the folder you want to save to, give your vile a name and click OKUser generated image

On Audacity I tried to import and it said the format was wrong and to try raw data. Import raw data and export the audio which was extracted from the video. I'll try it the way you have above.

The audio is exactly 10 seconds. I hope the blank is the same.

Mine does not look the same. Save Movie does not get me Youtube or Facebook, etc.
Publish Movie gets me Youtube.

I'm not sure if save has to preceed publishing.
I'm going to save to computer and I am certain I saved it to the pc last time.

Oh well it was only 7 seconds and I needed 10.
I can use the 7 or start over for 10 seconds.

Oh well was going to upload the file to EE and as expected the file type does not work.
No telling what format I got from WLMM and if Youtube will take it. I may need to convert again.

It is a .wmv file so I can not upload it here I get an error. I can not believe the long list of formats accepted by EE but no wmv.
I change it from wmv to something else then Windows won't play it.

Ok so I got it done through the side door, Next one use all the above and try for the front door.

Well someone else wants me to show them how so I'll go up to the top and use your method. Any issues a new question.

I was importing files and Audacity refused the file types. Your method is different. I used your method and in the background of the audio file was my TV sound.

So, your method is easier unless the video is in the right format.
The way I did it the Audacity only recorded the audio that was on the file and not any other sounds coming from an electric fan, TV, etc.

Your method is best and I had not used it before.
>> So, your method is easier unless the video is in the right format.

Please try to keep in mind that Audacity is an AUDIO editing program. I know for a fact that, no matter what the video file format is, you CANNOT IMPORT video files into Audacity.

Paul, how to I change the black image to be the number of seconds I desire.
I chose a 1000 x 1000 and it ended up being only 7 seconds when saved to WLMM.
Thanks.
Click on the yellow Video Tools tab ―> set the desired Duration: value

I'll be asking a new question on this going back to the audio cutter and Audacity issues.
