Desktop will not boot

I have a desktop here that will not boot into windows, keep s booting to windows repair. It wil not complete a system restore either. I have tested the HD with Dell diags and the western digital diags and it passes both. I have run chkdsk /r and also have sfc /scannow. I have also used all the bootrec command and they all complete successfully. Im at a loss right now as to what to try next.

When I do a restore I get rstrui.exe - application error. "The memory could not be read."

Can you start in Safe Mode?  If so, run a Repair Install from Safe Mode. Use the Windows 7 DVD for this.

We cannot boot to safemode. We have narrowed down the issue to be with "aswvmm.sys". When the automatic windows repair fails and you look at the log it references this file.

Checked memory, its fine.

If you have a backup, you can boot with the Windows 7 DVD and select Repair. That should work. Be sure you have adequate backup before starting.
