Search for emails On a PST data file without outlook

I have some PST files I need to recover some emails within some PST files. I tried opening the PST files with Outlook and search for the emails but it is not coming out with anything. is there a good program I can use to recover those emails without using Outlook

Try setting up a new profile in Outlook, attach the PST to this profile and then re-index Outlook.

In case this is not about data corruption, but really a search issue, I recommend you to install Mailstore Home, index the files correctly (make sure you select all available filters, like pfd, word, excel etc), and search it after the indexing is done (try also with correctly placed *signs).

You will not only get your results faster and more accurate, but also when there's a hit from within the file attachments (as I said earlier, the pdf's, word, excel etc), something Outlook is not capable of.
