I have made a normal windows app as prototype for app in android, for use mainly on tablet but if i can get it on a phone then that too. I am unsure of which layouts to use.

the controls are in 3 row 2 column type but the top combos are independent of each other where as the other combos have an adjacent listbox.

the grid in the win app is made of panels bound in a container with corresponding labels on each.

some help with a layout would be great.

i am designing it in visual studio with xaramin

What is the purpose of the app? Who are the target users?

its a chord helper with a musical device, ive got a little further but am stuck on creating the grid. ive created some linear layouts horizontal for the combo and listboxes.

have got stuck on the last where the panels are shown.

depending on what choices are made in the spinners gets shown on the layout of the grid.

In practice, layout of app is just a cooycat from similar apps.

Just look around for what others are doing and focus on your unique content from users' perspective.

The one above should look nice and good in usability.

my grid relates to an actual instrument. I just need to mimic that part in android,  I am hoping a 5x5 table with some way of having a panel in each cell and text on top of that. its difficult to know.

Create a prototype of your app and ask for feedback from your potential users.

The answer was gridlayout, with buttons in each cell.
