Why can not I copy text in PDF file?

Hi,
Why can not I copy text in PDF file? Is it version issue or I did not get correct way to do that? Please see the attached picture. Thank you

I have version Adobe X Pro and no problem in copy text... maybe any document restriction to copy content.  It happens with all pdf docs?

Should be how the author made the file as described in the link below.  Did you get a PDF from a new place that caused this problem for you?  Can read here, and please check version numbers.

If I remember correctly, I had this experience with OpenOffice word processing a long while back.  I was able using this free software to save my PDFs with many of the security options discussed above, like preventing the audience from copying text out of PDF.  If you don't own or want to buy Acrobat, you may have luck with OpenOffice.org.

Because a standard feature of PDF files is the ability to prevent the copying of text, it seems logical this PDF in question probably had this feature turned on.  If anyone wants to redistribute the points that's fine.
