Video Overlay Setup

Hi guys,

I would appreciate any inputs / thoughts / ideas on the below.

REQUIREMENTS

My client wants to set up a small stage at an event. They want to set up a video camera that is positioned underneath a TV, so that the video camera feeds live to the TV.

The TV will show the what the video camera is seeing, however they also want to add a transparent graphic of transparent video layer on top of what the video camera is capturing, so that it looks like augmented reality.

They then want to be able to take a screenshot of the camera (capturing the video camera feed and video layer on top of it).

Here is an example: https://youtu.be/9NDYhF2dVcg?t=17s

What we need to do:

01 - map video overlay on top of live camera feed and display it back on the tv

02 - we’ll need to provide the event manager with a UI (web app?) so that he can see what’s on the screen (or should we use a desktop app)

03 - the event manager needs to be able to take a screenshot and save to local server

Hi  oo7ml this done with a green screen your friends may have a problem creating this live stage event>My client wants to set up a small stage at an event.
when you see the weather on TV that is a live broadcast with a person in front of a green screen, Green screening also known as “chroma key”

What you are seeing with the M&M's is only what you see on TV the results it is not what you would have see live in Melbourne streets, They have broadcast it onto a big screen  you dont see it live
Example in the youtube video Broad casted green screen M&M on the video wall only the M&M are not beside the girls on the stage they watch themselves on the big screen and that's where the magic of chroma key has been done already recorded live added the M&M/s and broadcast back onto the screen.
Broadcasred green screen M
Your friends would need a big screen or TV  to playback the live broadcast and some video to overlay onto a green screen the chroma key software to merge them
oo7ml are you in australia?
I live here too ;)

You can do it, but you need a hardware as video capture card for PC or other dedicated hardware for overlay. Then you need a overlay software to mix the real video with a second (virtual) one (or static picture, animations).
I never tried it, but here are some options:

I think CasparCG (http://www.casparcg.com/features ) being free is what you need. You control from a PC, so you can make print screens. Has client remote control.
You may integrate it with HTML or Adobe Edge Animate or other static images.
