I am running the IDfix tool before setting up my AD sync.

I am getting loads of error counts about my users UPN's

All my users have the UPN [FirstName]"space"[Surname]

However its telling me i have to remove all the spaces from the Username. Will it cause issues if i dont do this? Changing all users UPN will be a bit of an annoying job.

I echo what Cliff stated.

In order to accomplish your task, the spaces (or invalid characters) must be removed not just from the UPN but possibly any aliases that were set if you had an on premises Exchange environment.

Check for Invalid Aliases in Exchange and AD Before Migrating to Office 365 ... https://oddytee.wordpress.com/2015/07/09/check-for-invalid-aliases-in-exchange-and-ad-before-migrating-to-office-365/

Refer to this TechNet article for the list of invalid (unuseable) characters in Office 365 ... https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2439357

Regarding the user logon name (UPN)... It has been my experience that the UPN (i.e. user@domain.com) is rarely used when users log in to their workstations, as the pre-Windows 2000 name (domain\username) is used the majority of the time.  Supposing the latter, as a result, the spaces (left of the @ symbol) can be safely removed.  However, in those rare cases, it will be important to track down what user (or application) is using the full UPN, and make the change before the account will be successfully synced to O365.
