actually the first answer led me to the right area. &nbsp;I was not given the option of rebuilding but when i was in the indexing area i noticed that some of my very large external back up drives had become included in the indexing cue. &nbsp;I wondered if that was bogging down the system. &nbsp;i removed them from the indexing options and now it is working again. &nbsp;Thanks

Another thing to note with Outlook 2010 is the search will reform different results with owa and outlook.
