Hello,

On new exchange server versions (and Office365 is based on Exchange 2016) the server name is not required any longer to establish connections. If you want to use any client service you point to service names such as:
- outlook.office365.com (For web access, imap, pop)
- smtp.office365.com (For smtp services)

There is no problem.

You just need to specify your email address and your internal password. You do not need to be aware of the server name, as far as there are some DNS records that are going to make that work (assuming that the auto discover records are registered correctly, they are supposed to).

Any new and updated (patched) version of Outlook can connect just specifying this information: The supported ones are these ones:
Outlook 2016
Outlook 2013
Outlook 2010 with KB2965295
Outlook for Mac for Office 365
Outlook for Mac 2011

So... let's go... take that computer out of your domain, create a new email account and just specify your email address and domain password, and it should work if everything is in place with your messaging system and your connection.
