VAMT reported that the response from the activation server did not match the request

I have starting getting the error "VAMT reported that the response from the activation server did not match the request" when trying to do a proxy activate request.  This is happening at multiple campuses with different servers and with different license keys for MS Office 2016..  I am running VAMT 3.1 on Servers 2008R2 and 2012R2 and getting the same results.  The license keys show as active and validate on the MS Volume License Center and have been working normally previously.
Any help will be appreciated.

The error message you're seeing is what I've seen myself if the SRV record is pointing to a CNAME rather than the actual FQDN of the KMS Server itself.  You can check this by doing a simple NSLookup from the command prompt:

nslookup -type=SRV _VLMCS._tcp.%USERDNSDOMAIN%

Check for the "svc hostname" - this should be the FQDN of the KMS Server, and not an alias (CNAME).

I have the same problem and tried to check the SRV record as described but I don't get a result, just tells me ""Non-existent domain". Can you help me on this?

My CMD output is here:
CMD output
VAMT 3.1 (10.1.14393.0) is not installed on the server but on another local machine running Win7.
